The Yang is a powerhouse of a double IPA coming in at the same 10% ABV. It poured a thick haze with a bright white head that, like its counterpart, left lacing to the imagination. The nose spoke of West Coast Citrus and pine with a solid middle and a finish that didn't leave an explosion of bitter on the palate.
The grand finale featured the mixing of the two elements to create a mind numbingly delicious black-and-tan. The Yin pervaded the Yang, cloaking it in darkness, not showing the typical black-atop-tan separation. It was utterly gorgeous to watch the two mix. The nose boasted true harmony with the hop bouquet shining up front and then backing off as the espresso and chocolate notes passed through. The mix showed prevalent lacing not seen in them individually. The middle and the finish showed a melange of flavors, the carbonation and citrus of the yang wrapping around the bitters and roast of the yin before they parted ways to stand on their own once again.
